Terminal Building, what Terminal Building - Last stop before Shanghai

I am feeling very excited about being in Dalian because it marked the end of Grandpas train journey and the beginning of his three day boat trip down to Shanghai. Everywhere has made me wonder what he thought about it all but here more so. I will tell you more about our day once we get to Shanghai but just a couple of things that were very special about today.
Mody, our guide today knew about our trip as I suspect Eric had told him. He had found and gave us a pack of post cards of the architecture of Dalian when Grandpa was here. He said he could take us to the docks where we could see the terminal building that was there 100 years ago. This was very overwhelming and I was feeling quite emotional about it. After taking in some other sights which I will tell you about later Mody said "now we will go to the port. We got out the post card to compare the scene which we knew was the same.
Imagine Mody's horror when we arrived to find a pile of rubble. In the week since he had recced the area the terminal building had been demolished!!
Mody was very upset but we thought on reflection that it was quite funny. We took some pics and have the card for the before and the pics for the after.
We hurried round to another site which was also featured in the cards and probably in Grandpas visit just in case that too had been pulled down in the last seven days
It was still there.
An hotel which used to be grand but is now not so. Mody persuaded them to let us have a look in the bedrooms as he thought it likely that Grandpa may have visited before embarking on the ship.
A little bit of what was a very emotional day in many ways. More in a few days.
